FAIR PLAY- Chestnut colt foaled in 1905. Died in 1929. By Hastings-Fairy Gold, by Bend Or
Race Record: 32-10-11-3 $86,950
In his most successful year, at 3, Fair Play set track records at Gravesend and Belmont. In the 1 1/4 mile First Special he carried 122 pounds and won in record time. He conceded 30 pounds in the Jerome and set his second track record. He also won the Municipal Handicap and the Coney Island Jockey Club Stakes. In 1908 betting on races in New York became illegal and many horses, including Fair Play, were shipped to England to race. Apparently the change of scenery did not agree with him, as Fair Play did not place in subsequent races.

| Rock Sand, dark bay/brown horse, 1900 (Sainfoin-Roquebrune by St. Simon) was the best
racehorse of his generation, winning the English Triple Crown, the Hardwicke Stakes and the
Jockey Club Stakes. Sons included the attractive Tracery, winner of the St. James's Palace Stakes and the Eclipse Stakes, and in the leading sire list in England a number of times in the 1920s, and Friar Rock, winner of several important American races, including the Belmont Stakes and the Suburban Handicap, also a successful sire (Friar's Carse, Egret, Simpatica, among others).
